William Symes

William Symes is a Licensed Professional Counselor, State Clinical Supervisor, and a National Board for Certified Counselors approved Continuing Education Provider, with over 45 years of clinical experience and 40 years of Buddhist meditation practice. He specializes in diagnosis and treatment strategies in the field of psychological suffering, integrating the evidence based practices of: Psychodynamics, Object Relations, Gestalt Integrative Process, Erickson Strategic Therapy, Jungian Personality Structure, and Mindfulness Practice.  He has an undergraduate degree with honors in Comparative Religion/Psychology of Religion, a graduate divinity degree in counseling/education, and a post-graduate diploma from the Gestalt Institute of St. Louis.

He served on the board of directors of the Elizabeth Richardson Center for developmentally disabled children and adults for eleven years and is a founding member of the Tibetan Cultural Institute of Arkansas. As an advocate for social justice he organized for the United Farm Workers during the national boycott of the 70’s, lived periodically with the Navajo People studying their culture, spiritual practice, and healing ceremonies, and raised money for Tibetan Refugee Relief during the 90’s. He is a strong advocate for environmental healing and national healthcare reform. 

Mr. Symes has a private practice in Fayetteville, AR. where he trains therapists and conducts continuing education seminars. He served as faculty for the 2015 Erickson International Congress in Phoenix, presenting a workshop on Practical Dream Analysis. He is the author of: Mastering the Art of Psychotherapy, publisher: Green Writers Press, 2016.
